The Desert House was factory-built and is the prototype for Marmol Radziner Prefab homes. It has a steel floor frame, steel columns, and a steel roof frame, all welded together. Both interior and exterior finished floors are comprised of concrete poured over metal decks. The plumbing, electrical, mechanical and cabinetry were all installed at the factory. Interior and exterior finishes were also installed. To protect the modules during shipping, they were shrink-wrapped before being placed on trucks.
