Marmol Radziner Prefab

To facilitate the transition between indoor and outdoor spaces, the Palms House has a few exterior stair landings (or palettes) that stick out beyond the building envelope of the modules. Visually, these pads continue the same materials inside and out so that the entire ground level of the home has poured concrete floors. We fabricated these pads in our factory, and they were  forklifted into place during the installation a few weeks ago.

Tomorrow, Marmol Radziner Prefab will be featured on Renovation Nation, starring Steve Thomas .  Renovation Nation now calls the Planet Green channel home and provides viewers with information on green building. Our episode highlights the green features of prefab building and follows the Palms House as it traveled through our factory. The completed Palms House was installed in Venice, CA on June 3rd and 4th.

What do you get when you combine starchitects and Formica? The FORM: Contemporary Architects at Play furniture design competition benefiting the Lois and Richard Rosenthal Center for Contemporary Arts in Cincinnati. The pricey pieces were auctioned on May, 2008 and are currently on exhibit at the CAC.

We are happy to annouce that Jorge Gracia of San Diego and Phyllis Sands of Long Beach are the two winners of the Heath Ceramics raffle we had at Dwell on Design. Congratulations! We would like to thank Heath Ceramics for donating the beautiful bowls as well as the tile in the Rincon 5.

This weekend we were busy with the Dwell on Design  show. The show was well attended and we saw a lot of familiar faces. Thanks to everyone who came out to see us!

Here are some photos of the new Rincon 5 at Dwell. The 660 square foot Rincon 5 is the largest of our new series of single module accessory buildings. The Rincon 5 is designed to be used as a guest house, office, or vacation retreat. 

We plan on taking our Rincon 5 on the road  this summer to host a variety of design events. We will keep you posted with upcoming dates.

By 10:30 am on Wednesday, all 13 mods that make up the Palms House were installed. The 2800 square foot house includes 3 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, a living room/dining room, kitchen (with operable skylight), office and plenty of outdoor living space.

We are excited to announce that we installed the first floor of the Palms House (formally the Venice House) today!  All eight modules that make up the ground level were installed in less that three hours, three hours ahead for schedule!  The ground floor includes the kitchen (with fully installed cabinets), living room, bathroom (fully installed), laundry room, pantry, outdoor living space, and carport.

Tomorrow our crew will install the second floor. If you are in the Venice area stop by and say hello!
