Factory, Green Building, Green Living, Hollywood Hybrid, Projects, custom homes

Our latest prefab home, Hollywood Hybrid, is being installed tomorrow, June 3oth, in the Hollywood Hills area of Los Angeles. This eco-friendly three-level house is registered with the U.S. Green Building Council for certification under USGBC’s LEED program upon completion.
The green home was made in the factory, reducing building waste and worker transportation. The modules are being driven to the site in the morning. Hollywood Hybrid comes complete with responsible woods, energy efficient appliances, solar panels, and dual pane high insulation glass which allows for all the great views of Los Angeles from this home up in the hills.
Installation starts at 9:30am. This event is closed to the general public, however media and press are welcome. We will be following up with more information on the progress in the coming weeks.
Please tune in to your local news station throughout the day tomorrow to see live coverage of how fast and easy an eco-friendly prefab home can be built.

We are excited to announce a unique partnership with Dwell Magazine. Our Skyline Series has been standarized specifically for the Dwell Homes Collection. The Skyline Series of homes is an inspiring mix and match system of green, prefab homes with many of the modern design features and eco-friendly elements that you have come to expect from our prefab homes.

The system offers four configurable floor plans that create six different homes. These homes were designed as private urban retreats and developed to fit on typical urban lots. Ranging from two to six bedroom designs, one and two story options are available. Skyline’s notable design features include expansive floor to ceiling windows and come complete with outdoor decking to create an outstanding indoor outdoor experience.
Skyline’s green highlights include insulated glass, optional grid-connected solar panels, responsible woods, low VOC paint, and energy efficient appliances. These modular homes are built in a factory just like our custom prefab homes and delivered to the site complete, offering the benefits of less waste and the eliminations of custom design fees.
Skyline Series is a easy, straightforward, living solution no matter how small or large your needs are. Prices start in the $500,000s. View the range of designs at: www.marmolradzinerprefab.com/skyline.html

Marmol Radziner is opening its work shop doors in a more public way this month with the launch of a new web site for Marmol Radziner Shops. Marmol Radziner Shops services are available to homeowners, architects, designers, and contractors alike. House remodels, maintenance, or new construction projects can make use of all types of superior metal and wood services including custom kitchen, bathroom and storage cabinets, doors and windows, various metal and wood architectural elements, and furniture.
The architects established their own metal and cabinet shops in 1995 to create modern, high quality components, at a time when their own exacting standards could not be matched by local sub-contractors. Marmol Radziner Shops has supported work at notable historic and new construction residential projects, including homes designed originally by acclaimed architect Richard Neutra, as well as commercial and retail projects for leading brands such as James Perse and Vince. Marmol Radziner Shops is the exclusive manufacturer of authentic reproductions of furniture designed by legendary architect R. M. Schindler for his seminal 1921-22 Kings Road House in West Hollywood.

Yesterday’s Gavin Newsom visit to our offices was quite exciting.
Here’s the story from Christopher Hawthorne of the Los Angeles Times:
“In the early afternoon, San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom, who announced Tuesday (via Twitter) that he was running for governor, showed up at Marmol Radziner <http://www.marmol-radziner.com/> ’s studio on Nebraska Avenue in Los Angeles for a tour and to make some brief remarks about green architecture and jobs. The visit, his first official Southern California campaign stop, came a day after Newsom stopped in at the Facebook headquarters in Palo Alto.”
“Why did Newsom choose Marmol Radziner? The firm’s work on prefab housing was one reason. Newsom has made sustainable development and green-tech investment a focus of his nascent campaign. (Prefab architecture qualifies as green because, among other benefits, it produces significantly less construction waste than traditional residential building methods.) During his visit to Marmol Radziner, he wore a green tie to mark Earth Day and toured one of the firm’s sleek, minimalist prefab houses.” -Christopher Hawthorne, Los Angeles Times

Join us today in welcoming Gavin Newsom. At noon, he’ll be here in Los Angeles to tour our offices and our green prefab home, The Rincon. Later, he’ll be in San Diego touring a a renewable energy’s laboratory.
In his video announcement yesterday, Newsom touted his green efforts in San Francisco: “We have the most aggressive local solar incentives in America. The highest recycling rates. The strongest green building standards. And we are putting San Franciscans, who used to be locked out of the old industrial economy, back to work as part of a new green economy.”

On tuesday of this week, MRP installed our eighth home – our third in five months. With 2000 square feet of deck space and 2000 interior square feet, this custom house is all about outdoor living. Notice the three twelve foot x twelve foot risers that gently negotiate between the deck and the ground plane. Another fine example of California living, prefab style.
